The Players

In the poem, The Player’s, the poet uses contrast as a technique to show how fragile and ego-centric the perspective of an adult is when compared to a child’s view of life.  ‘The sportive child’ who wonders ‘where did my castle go?’ while playing at sea with sand, contrasts sharply with the clever, ambitious man whose life is wellplanned, leaving nothing to chance.
