In the beautiful poem, ‘The Flight’, the poet describes the thoughts and emotions of the protagonist when ‘friend’, who gave her timely solace, is to fly to a place far away.  Looming emptiness gnaws her insides until a little bird that is flying past her window pauses and turns as if to say something.    What reassurance is she left with?
